A LETTER TO THE SURFACE
The work follows a recurring body through forests, caves, and transitional spaces. Still photographs, moving images, and sound come together in a fragmented and non-linear sequence, where repetition and shifts between stillness and movement create a space that is both physical and psychological. The body at the centre of the work belongs to an ageing woman with vitiligo. The visible marks on her skin become a starting point for thinking about what can be seen and what remains beyond visibility- scars, memories, experiences, and forms of knowledge that cannot be read directly from the surface.
Rather than explaining what is visible, the work considers how visibility can also produce absence-what remains unseen, overlooked, or impossible to recognise. The images move between presence and disappearance, allowing what cannot be fully seen to remain part of the work.
